Červená, Evelína ; Žáčková, Magdalena (advisor) ; Mengozzi, Chiara (referee)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the character of Harlequin and its development. The thesis compares the traditional, typified version with Truffaldino, i.e., Harlequin in Carlo Goldoni's interpretation. The introductory part is devoted to commedia dell'arte, its origin and development. Furthermore, this genre is presented both from the point of view of theater and from the point of view of literature. Attention is also paid to the visual aspect, i.e., masks and costumes. In the following chapters individual typified characters are introduced. The second part is dedicated to the comedy The Servant of Two Masters. The introductory part deals with the life of Carlo Goldoni and his theater reform. Follows a description of the plot of the play The Servant of Two Masters and its analysis. The character of Truffaldino is then analyzed in a separate chapter. Keywords: Carlo Goldoni, Harlequin, The Servant of Two Masters, Commedia dell'arte, masks
